A fun and challenging experience for participants to showcase their knowledge and skills in Mathematics.

Maths Competition

Aims, Scope and Content

The Mathematics Competition will provide a fun and challenging experience for participants to showcase their knowledge and skills in mathematics.

Mathematics Competition will recognise and reward the achievements of young mathematicians to promote the development of conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply mathematical knowledge quickly and accurately.

Mathematics Competition will improve proficiency in the fundamentals of mathematics through varied and frequent practice with problems that get progressively more complex over time.

The competition will place strong emphasis on using precise mathematical terminology to construct arguments, provide justifications, and develop proofs, all while exploring patterns, relationships, and generalisations.Participants will face challenges that encourage them to break down complex problems into manageable steps, persistently seek solutions, and apply their mathematical skills to both routine and novel problems with growing sophistication. Moreover, the Mathematics Competition will deepen participants’ understanding of mathematical concepts and their representations, highlighting the subject as an interconnected and integrated discipline.

Age Categories

Resources, tests and challenges are designed to be suitable for the age categories.

10 Questions (3 Marks each)

5 marks

10 Questions (5 Marks each)

The Knowledge Test will consist of a set of multiple-choice, single and multiple-entry questions on a range of vocabulary, verbal reasoning, comprehension, character and scene analysis based on topics and resources shared with the participants before the test. The depth of knowledge, vocabulary and comprehension will be convenient for the age categories.

Participants will have 60 mins to complete 30 questions, which will have three levels of difficulty and each level will have different weighing to contribute to the final score of 100.

Global Final - Paper Based Challenges

These challenges will be done individually on paper and the team score will be calculated collaboratively. They may include multiple-choice or single-entry questions.

Logical Bee

This challenge involves tasks that test the team’s ability to understand and analyse information presented in non-verbal or numerical formats, such as diagrams, graphs, tables, and mathematical operations

Analytic Bee

This is a problem-solving challenge that tests the team’s ability to solve word problems, mathematical equations, or real-world scenarios that require mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Global Final - Live Challenges

These challenges will be done as a team in front of the judges/audience either against time or a challenging team.

Speedy Bee

This challenge involves tasks that test the team’s ability to understand and analyse information presented in non-verbal or numerical formats, such as diagrams, graphs, tables, and mathematical operations

Inquisitive Bee

This challenge will encourage teams to talk about mathematical concepts, their existence, importance and applicability. The teams are expected to talk for 2-3 minutes. The judges will score the delivery, content, language, and overall impact of the speech.
